Footloose

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Ariel
So it's been a while but I wanted to let everyone know about the current production I'm working on. I am stage managing Footloose in Branford, at St. Theresa's church. The show is going and I have the best cast ever. I'm loving every minute I get to spend with them, and I've made some great new friends while reconnecting with old ones. It's been wonderful. Sundays and Mondays are so hard as I got through withdrawal. Crazy.

Anyway...

The show is April 27, 28, and 29 at 8pm in Branford. Come see it. It's an amazing group of actors accompanied by a great band. tickets are $10/each and will be sold in advance and at the door first come first serve. Any questions? Call, comment, or use IM.

My favorite book...a movie?

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Ariel
To start off, The Celestine Prophecy is one of my favorite books. I've read it more times than I can count. By shear coincidence, I happened to find out it has been made into a movie and is playing at a theater in Port Chester, NY. So John and I made the drive out there today to see it. It was really good. I was amazed that it translated so well into a movie. Although parts were poorly done or cheesy, all in all, it was good. If you've read the book, I recommend seeing the movie.

And the basement is flooded. A foot and a half of water. Almost all of my stuff was thrown out, as it was completely soaked and completely ruined. That includes the flowers I had saved from my Grandmother's funeral. What a wonderful way to start my day

In the end...

So a real update...wow.

It's almost the end of my final semester in college. I actually can't wait until its over. Looking back at my experiences since I graduated from high school, I've learned quite a bit- and not just from my classes (although, believe it or not, I think I might have learned something in those too.) State schools are actually really good, despite the fact that most people do dumb things and then say "Well, I go to Southern". Hey, I've done it. But in all honestly, transferring from King's, a really small, narrow-minded population where I was thought to be a Satanist simply because I tended to dress Goth and dye my hair all kinds of colors, to SCSU, where you do have people who think that way, but they are the minority (and mostly belong to Campus Crusade for Christ) was a great decision in the end. I think I've gotten more of an eduction by going to Southern, as there are more sources to learn from. I also have a job I love, with people I love to work with, for the most part. How many people can say that?

Right now, I'm two days away (counting today) from completing my last college show. It's an amazing feeling. During the tech process, something I usually love to go through, I realized that I'm sitting with people who are acting like 4 year olds, in an environment that should be slightly professional. I've gotten past the stupid games and jokes and just want to go to work and get stuff done. Not the way this tech went. But I'll miss everyone most likely when I go see the musical in the fall. It happens.

There's been quite a few other big changes in my life. One of them people know about, but only those who need to know...and that's the way I'm keeping it for at least a few more days. I'm also beginnnig to learn who I can count on when I need a friend. There are very few people. Mat made a very good point by telling me to do whatever makes me happy, as most people don't appreciate when you do something nice for them. And I know that. There's one or two people who do, and those are also the ones I've found I can rely on the most when something goes wrong. (Thank you both)

This summer is beginning to look good. I'm working dance recitals at Lyman again. 14 days, 115 hours, yay money. I also need to try to find a job for Sept, but I've got a bit of time to do that. I've also been making other plans for the summer. I really want to do at least one road trip, and I hope my plans work out in that matter. I just need to get away for a little while and see new things. A couple people have mentioned things, both I'd love to do, I just hope they work out.

Well, time to get ready for a long day of shows.

The finale Pippin, the finale!
By Sean Gilmartin

Tribal cheers and reluctant tears
Spread across the stage. Followed by
Glares and unwavering stares, the Leading Player gestures in rage.

With great trepidation and fear
Humiliation Pippin resists. Causing
Confusion-Ruin to our illusion
Facing angry fists.

Threat of the perfect, nearly
Perfect end to our colorful dream, Pippin Refuses, for some reason chooses to denounce the magical scene.

"Strike the lights!
Strike the props! Scenery too!
Strike the costumes! hats and all
Now Pippin, What will you do?"

Seany's so cute...but we have been way too immersed in the show.

The Expatriate
Achtung! You are 23% brainwashworthy, 13% antitolerant, and 23% blindly patriotic

Congratulations! You are not susceptible to brainwashing, your values
and cares extend beyond the borders of your own country, and your Blind
Patriotism does not reach unhealthy levels. If you had been German in the 30s, you would've left the country.

One bad scenario -- as I hypothetically project you back in time -- is
that you just wouldn't have cared one way or the other about Nazism.
Maybe politics don't interest you enough. But the fact that you took
this test means they probably do. I'm gonna give you the benefit of the
doubt.

Did you know that many of the smartest Germans departed prior to the
beginning of World War II, because they knew some evil shit was
brewing? Brain Drain. Many of them were scientists. It is very possible
you could have been one of them.

Conclusion: born and raised in Germany in the early 1930's, you would not have been a Nazi.

I rule Canada!!!!

Dear Santa...

Dear Santa,

This year I've been busy!

In September I got in line at the supermarket at the same time as someone else and I didn't yield (-8 points). Last Friday I pulled [info]southernhottie's hair (-5 points). In April I gave [info]al_fuego a Dutch Oven (-10 points). Last week I stole [info]onelittlefishy's purse (-30 points). Last Thursday I ruled Canada as a kind and benevolent dictator (700 points).

Overall, I've been nice (647 points). For Christmas I deserve a Lego set!

Sincerely,
